- Hello,
-
- We have installed a hypercard online library system, which is used by children.
- It has only the mouse for input (no keyboard present). To keep the environment
- robust and kid-proof, we have made it impossible to quit the application
- without the keyboard. Consequently, in normal operation, it is also impossible
- to shutdown before turning off the power.
-
- My question is, what are the long-term risks, if any to such an arrangement.
- The system would normally turned on and off every morning and evening. I would
- expect the possible problems could be with data and file integrity on the
- harddisk.
-
- One system has been installed for about a year on a Mac SE. It is
- still running fine, but the floppy drive has failed. I don't think those
- problems can be related.
-
- Within, hypercard, is there a better way to implement a robust, no-keyboard,
- friendly shutdown procedure?
-
- Please send any help or insight would be appreciated...
-
-
- Jason
