- I am in the market for a new hard disk. I currently own a Quantum ProDrive 105
- external, and have been very happy with it, up until I filled it last week.
- Now I am looking for another 100-150 Meg drive to drop in the internal bay in
- my IIsi. I am considering the following two drives:
-
- Quantum LP105S--This is a Low Profile drive (but NOT low power-there are two
- right?) sporting an average access time of 25ms and peak times of 9ms (with
- cache). I have seen it priced around $329-$335.
-
- Maxtor 120 Meg Low Profile Drive--Offers 15 ms average access time, but only a
- one year warranty. I have seen this priced around $339-$349.
-
- Basically I am interested in hearing about the Maxtor (reasons I should buy it
- over the Quantum) from those who have dealt with one or both drives. Any info
- will be helpful in the buying decision. The big hangup for me is whether or
- not the Maxtor is a more superior drive to warrant spending $10-$20 more and
- gaining roughly 15 more formatted megs.
-
- Thanks in advance.
