- I'm vaguely toying with the idea of buying an accelerator for my Mac, but
- am wondering about compatibility. I don't care about games that run too
- fast but deeper things. Specifically how does the Time Manager handle
- scheduling? Do the Time Manager routines in ROM synch off a different clock
- from that feeding the CPU so that a faster CPU doesn't hurt them? Similarly
- for the timing parts of QuickTime, the Sound Manager, etc, etc.
-
- Near as I can tell, all accelerators come with an INIT that activates them.
- To what extent is this OS version specific? Ie if it's patching every
- routine in ROM that depends on CPU timing, will it break with the next OS
- release?
