  13. HP makes two cartridges for the DeskWriter/Jet series of inkjet printers.
  14. The vanilla DeskWriter just uses the black cartridge; the C uses both.
  15. I believe you can only use one type per page/print job.  The cartridges
  16. themselves just snap in & out of the carriage mechanism.  So to print,
  17. for example, a 5-page report with a full-page color spread on page 3,
  18.  
  19. 1.  Snap in the black cartridge & print pp. 1-2.
  20.  
  21. 2.  Hit the "Cartridge" button on the front panel; flip open the lid
  22.     & snap out the black cartridge.  Close the lid.

  24. 3.  Print p. 3.

  26. 4.  Change cartridges again & print pp. 4-5.

  28. You can get away with printing the entire 5 pages with just the color
  29. cartridge, but at $35 per, why not conserve?
