I know that outputting postscript files has been discussed in detail here, but I would like to go another round. Like the previous writers, I also use the following printing metaphor: 1) create document, 2) create postscript file, 3) download to vax, 4) send to printserver 40 to print.
This method only seems to work in programs which have to features: 1) printer driver for the eventual output device (In my case, the printserver 40 PPD) 2) print-to-disk option which is built into the program (not open apple+K (sys 6.X) or the postscript option in the print dialouge box (sys 7.X))
When I chose the printserver 40 PPD in Pagemaker and then print-to-disk using Pagemaker's print-to-disk feature, I get perfect output from the printserver 40. When I do a system-level postscript output (open apple+K or postscript option in print dialoug box) IT NEVER WORKS.
In short, does anyone know how to get correctly formatted postscript output from programs which have the correct printer driver but do not have a built-in print-to-disk feature (i.e. Aldus Freehand)?
p.s. I have a feeling that whenever you do a system-level postscript output (i.e. open apple+K (sys 6.X) or postscript option in print dialouge box (sys 7.x) the system formats the file for the chooser-selected printer. I anyone knows this to be true, then is there a printserver 40 chooser-level printer driver available?
