- I'm doing a study on how people use color on their Macintosh desktop.
-
- I'm looking for volunteers to participate. Here are the details:
-
- The study will take only ten minutes of your time (at the most)
-
- You can participate over the phone or by Email (see instructions
- below).
-
- You must be a user of the "Kolor" utility
-
- Participants will receive a copy of the study results when the study is
- completed. Please let me know if you want to participate.
-
- Thanks,
-

- Email Instructions
-
- Thank you for agreeing to participate in the desktop color study. You
- have asked to participate by Email. Please follow these instructions,
- record the requested information and mail it back to me.
-
- 1. Open your Control Panel under the Apple menu and open the Kolor
- utility.
-
- 2. The utility allows you to change the color of different features of
- your desk top environment. We are interested in four of those
- features: The menu bar, the menu title text, the item background,
- and the item text.
-
- 3. Click on the box with the words "menu bar" next to it.
-
- 4. Record the six numbers the appear in the dialogue box on the left
- hand side. These numbers are the values for Hue, Saturation,
- Brightness, Red, Green, and Blue.
-
- 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the "menu title text", the "item
- background," and the "item text."
-
- 6. Please answer the following questions:
-
- A. How did you pick the colors for these features. That is, how
- did you decide on the particular colors you selected?
-
- B. How often do you change the colors of these items?
-
- C. How long has it been since you changed the colors on these items?
-
- D. Do you have any form of color blindness?
-
- E. What is your educational background?
-
- F. Do you have any experience with human factors or do you ever read
- human factors literature?
-
- 7. Include your name and address if you would like a copy of the
- results of this study.
-
-
- Thank you.
