  12. I'm doing a study on how people use color on their Macintosh desktop.

  14. I'm looking for volunteers to participate.   Here are the details:

  16. The study will take only ten minutes of your time (at the most)
  17.  
  18. You can participate over the phone or by Email (see instructions
  19. below).
  20.  
  21. You must be a user of the "Kolor" utility
  22.  
  23. Participants will receive a copy of the study results when the study is
  24. completed.  Please let me know if you want to participate.

  31.  
  32. Thank you for agreeing to participate in the desktop color study.  You
  33. have asked to participate by Email.  Please follow these instructions,
  34. record the requested information and mail it back to me.
  35.  
  36. 1.  Open your Control Panel under the Apple menu and open the Kolor
  37.     utility.
  38.  
  39. 2.   The utility allows you to change the color of different features of
  40.      your desk top environment.  We are interested in four of those
  41.      features: The menu bar, the menu title text, the item background,
  42.      and the item text.  
  43.  
  44. 3.   Click on the box with the words "menu bar" next to it.   
  45.  
  46. 4.   Record the six numbers the appear in the dialogue box on the left
  47.      hand side.  These numbers are the values for Hue, Saturation,
  48.      Brightness, Red, Green, and Blue.  
  49.  
  50. 5.   Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the "menu title text", the "item
  51.      background," and the "item text."
  52.  
  53. 6.  Please answer the following questions:
  54.  
  55.     A.  How did you pick the colors for these features.  That is, how
  56.         did you decide on the particular colors you selected?
  57.  
  58.     B. How often do you change the colors of these items?   
  59.  
  60.     C. How long has it been since you changed the colors on these items?
  61.  
  62.     D. Do you have any form of color blindness?
  63.  
  64.     E. What is your educational background?  
  65.  
  66.     F. Do you have any experience with human factors or do you ever read
  67.        human factors literature?
  68.  
  69. 7.  Include your name and address if you would like a copy of the
  70.     results of this study.
