- Sorry to keep at this. Perhaps a FAQ is in order. It is my understanding
- that the current 487sx chip does not do clock doubling, and thus just adds
- an FPU to a 486sx system. What those of us with 486sx systems would like
- to see, of course, is a 487sx2 which gives us the clock doubling boost
- plus the FPU. I realise that Intel does not discuss unannounced chips and
- would not ask for that information, but exactly what is announced at this
- point? The BYTE add for July '92 claims "1.50X" performance using Windows
- with OverDrive (page 90). Is this FPU, new chip architecture, clock
- doubling related or merely a typical (or atypical) application performance
- difference?
