- I've been trying to follow the Intel vs AMD wars but am
- having a little trouble keeping up. Right now I have 2
- questions (which I'm sure are shared by many):
-
- 1. Has the dispute over the AMD 386 been put to rest?
- Is there on-going court action which could affect
- AMD's ability to market the 386?
-
- 2. What's the prognosis on the AMD 486? I would have thought
- that AMD had a parallel "clean room" project as insurance,
- but now I'm beginning to wonder. I heard rumors they were
- trying to cut a deal with Chips to buy some clean room
- microcode (or possibly buy the whole company). Is AMD
- looking at a significant delay in their 486 plans?
