- I have a 20MHz 486sx system at home and was wondering if anyone could
- help answer the following questions:
-
- 1) I was hoping to be able to upgrade to a higher speed, full DX
- part at some time in the future. I imagine being able to buy
- an Overdrive chip which would run internally at 40 Mhz (using
- clock doubling). Is this achievable now, or will it be in the
- future?
-
- 2) (This could be posted to other groups, I'd like to keep it in the
- same thread as the previous question). When running MSDOS 5.0
- the memory manager doesn't seem to recognise the control
- mechanism for the A20 line on power-up, and refuses to load
- SmartDrive although other TSRs and DOS itself get loaded into
- high memory. After a few Ctrl-Alt-Dels though, EMM386 does
- recognise the high memory properly. Once the machine is warmed
- up, each reboot works right. This doesn't seem right to me,
- I don't think we're talking about a mechanical relay that's sticking
- here..., any ideas what's happening?
