  33. If I am not mistaken, Maxtor introduced this drive not too long ago.
  34. It is slightly slower than the 213A (16ms vs. 15ms) and the data transfer rate
  35. is also less for the newer drive.

  37. Reason for the lower cost...OEM/dealer price was originally $399 (probably
  38. lower by now!) due to the fact that the 7213A and 7213S use existing technology
  39. and fewer parts from the Maxtor Cheyenne (sp?) series like the 7120A.

  41. Maxtor has a good reputation for quality drives, so if you do not mind the 16ms
  42. access time and lower transfer rate then go ahead.

  44. One thing to keep in mind is that Maxtor has a LOW-LEVEL format program for the
  45. 213A (just in case it is needed)...When  I talked to Maxtor a while back about
  46. the 7120a (the 7 refers to the Cheyenne series)  They did not have a low level
  47. format program available for that specific drive...they might have one out for
  48. the 7213A.  I am not sure if Disk Manager >5.0 can handle the 7213A.
