- Ok, I just got done weeding throught all the yelling and bashing on this
- group AND comp.sys.amiga.advocacy. I must say that I'm really getting tired
- of all this. Yes, I am an Amiga owner, but don't go calling me any names
- yet MS-Dos'ers, and I'm not a traitor Amiga friends. Look, I just want to
- let you all in on a little secret. If your happy with your computer, then
- shut up and be happy with it!!!!!!
-
- EVERY computer has it's good and bad points. I've heard the arguements made
- for every computer from the lowly Commodore Pet, all the way up to Cray Supercomputers.
- It's always the same... each computer is usually good at doing some things
- and piss poor at doing others.
-
- MS-Dos and Friends: Quit bashing on Amigas. OK, so we didn't get the advantage
- of having a company that supports us and lots of software developers. But
- does that mean that we are any less capable of accomplishing the tasks we
- set forth to do on our systems.
-
- Amiga buddies: Stop harping on the PC community. They have a system with
- a much longer lineage and heritage than ours. Their systems are capable and
- usually of good quality. These people looked for a computer and decided that
- the MS-Dos arena was the choice for them. We looked for something different
- and found it. Each side has made a choice, and has (hopefully) been happy
- with it. Argueing with the other group isn't gonna solve any problems with
- either system.
-
- What it comes down to is this: why not help each other out. Is there any
- reason we all can't work together to just promote COMPUTERS, instead of any
- ONE platform. Amiga's handle GUI's and desktop video more easily than PC's,
- but PC's crunch numbers and have more support than Amigas. The best of both
- worlds is found where each system's strengths are taken advantage of and
- used to their fullest.
-
- At my school, we have Macs, PC's, and Amiga's sitting right next to the Unix
- boxes. Some people use each of them, because each person finds that one of
- the systems there fits their needs and wants in a computer.
-
- Is it so difficult to imagine PC's and Amigas sitting side-by-side working
- together on a project, talking over serial/parrallel/network connections,
- banging away at a problem? I work in a government research facility. We have
- a few Amigas that are used for some simulations, IBM's used for networks
- and controlling systems, Sun's and Decs as Network servers, and Macs for
- the secretaries. An intertgrated environment, with each system lending it's
- own unique personality, is an environment that can get thing done!
-
- Enough said!!
-
- NO MORE FLAME WARS!!!!!!!
