- It is the way most OS vendors work. MS relies on board vendors for
- drivers for Windows, SCO depends on them to write them for SCO UNIX,
- etc. Ditto for printer drivers and printer manufacturers. Ditto
- for sound cards. There are too many different devices and 'standards'
- for the OS manufacturers to write for all of them. The role of the
- OS vendor is to pressure the peripheral manufacturers to write the
- %^$%$^&* drivers.
