  14. Ok.  With the info that I've garnered so far, I've come to a decent conclusion
  15. as to what sort of system I'm going to get.  I still have a couple more
  16. questions to ask.

  18. Here's the rough system I'm planning on getting:

  20. ISA 486DX33, 1.2 gig SCSI drive, Adaptec 1542B SCSI controller, Exabyte 8500
  21. (eveuntally), SCSI (external) CDROM, 16 megs, SVGA hicolor RAMDAC card,
  22. NI monitor.

  24. What SVGA cards are supported by X386 (X11R5 pl12)?  I've heard that the
  25. ATI Ultra is based on the ET4000 and is 3 to 5 times as fast as the Tseng.

  27. Are there any cards that support 1280x1024@256 (NI) or 1280x1024@24 bits (NI)?
  28. How fast are they?  Does X386 support them?  BSD 386?  Linux?  OS/2?  Windows?

  30. I suppose that going with Local Bus is a bad idea right now.

  32. Any comments?  Does the ATI work with X386?

  34. What resolutions and colors does X386 support?  1024x768@256?  1280x1024@16?

  37. I'm planning on using an external SCSI CD-ROM becuase I'd like to be able
  38. to use it on my Amiga.  Any recommendations as far as drives?

  40. Does BSD386 and the Adaptec support Exabytes?
