- What was the lighting like in the various locations? I'll bet the store
- where you saw the flicker had lots of bright unshielded florescent bulbs
- which flicker something awful at 60Hz. Combine this with the monitor's
- refresh rate and I'll bet the glare from the lights was sync'ing with the
- monitor at your assumed 10Hz. Those big cheap florescent lights often
- found in commercial locations are pretty efficient strobes and screw up how
- a lot of things appear in a more normal setting.
