- One inportant thing you should understand is this: Hercules-type
- mono cards are 8 bit. Most of the better VGA cards are 16 bit,
- but if there is an 8-bit mono card in the system the VGA card
- will usually also drop down to 8 bits. This produces, at least
- for me with a Gateway 2000 486/33 and Diamond Speedstar (ET4000)
- VGA card, a very noticable hit on the graphics performance. You
- can actually SEE the windows being redrawn wheras formerly it
- all happened in a flash. Yuch. But it is better than trying
- to debug all on one monitor.
