- Hi fellow netters,
-
- I'm currently working on a Philips pc-xt and have to replace the
- harddisk. The original harddisk has a 50 pin connector. I have a spare
- (same harddisk type, different interface) that has two connectors,
- one 34-pin and a 20-pin connector. What I would like to know is if it's
- possible to use the "two-connector" disk in the pc (that has a
- on-motherboard controller with a 50 pin connector).
-
- Is there a way to connect this "two-connector" harddisk to the pc with
- a working harddisk as a result ? I tried exchanging the harddisk
- pc-boards (NOT the controllers, but the pc-boards mounted on the
- harddisk!), but that didn't work. The only difference (apart from the
- connectors) I could see is a copper contact/spring that touches the
- spindle of the harddisk. I don't know what this contact/spring does.
- It sure is not a mechanical function....
-
- Can anybodey make any sense of this....
-
- Thanks in advance for your reply.
-
- Peter.
