- Hello everyone.
-
- I am planning to upgrade my motherboard from a 386DX-20 (that's right,
- DX). I have a six SIMMS of the 80ns variety that I want to take with me to
- the new board, as I don't have the money to replace them and I don't know if
- I can sell them. Here's the $100 question(s).
-
- 1) Would it be safe to run these RAM's in a 486SX-25? I see that most
- of the 25MHz systems I see are 70ns RAM's. They are all in very good condition
- and have been thoroughly tested with OS/2 :-)
-
- 2) I saw one guy post and say that he ran 80ns RAM in his 486DX-33
- with 0 wait states (as per the manual's recommendation). Is this possible,
- or is he pushing his RAM?
-
- 3) Can someone tell me what they have in their 486, how many wait
- states, etc.?
-
- 4) Anyone know the appropriate RAM speed for 25, 33, 40, and 50MHz
- machines?
-
- 5) If I do have to buy new RAM, anyone out there interested in a
- Boca RAM AT Plus with 6 megs? Only 3 months old!
