- Most IDE drives support "sector translation" mode, which lets them
- emulate standard drive types that are not supported in the drive
- table. For example, I'm using a Toshiba IDE drive in an HP Vectra
- QS/16. I simply used the "setup" program to configure the system
- for the next *smaller* capacity drive type that is supported by
- my system and let the IDE drive do the rest. This cost me about
- 2 mbytes -- the Toshiba drive is rated at 105 mbytes and this
- method lets me use 103 of it.
