  11. Most IDE drives support "sector translation" mode, which lets them
  12. emulate standard drive types that are not supported in the drive
  13. table.  For example, I'm using a Toshiba IDE drive in an HP Vectra
  14. QS/16.  I simply used the "setup" program to configure the system
  15. for the next *smaller* capacity drive type that is supported by
  16. my system and let the IDE drive do the rest.  This cost me about
  17. 2 mbytes -- the Toshiba drive is rated at 105 mbytes and this
  18. method lets me use 103 of it.
