  13. I have a Miniscribe 3425 (20 Meg MFM) HD which tends to work fine for a
  14. few hours after power-up and then goes into some sort of error mode.
  15. It makes a funny whine, sort of like a quick spin-up or something,
  16. and starts flashing the same error code on its LED.  According to
  17. the error codes posted here last week, the problem is "Index pulse
  18. not detected or lost."

  20. My question is, where is the index pulse?  I thought it might be on
  21. one of the controller cables, but I've tightened up the cable contacts
  22. with no results.  Is it somewhere inside the drive?

  24. Also does anybody know what the settings on the DIP switch at the back
  25. of the drive mean?  I don't have a manual for the drive.
