- Can anybody help me with the information about PC AT system timer(s)?
- I know that original PC has one 8253 chip accessble through I/O ports 40h-43h
- (43h is a command register, and 40h thru 42h are counters for channels 0-2).
- I also know that PC AT and clones have an enhanced 8253-5 chip (or even
- several of them) that is downward compatible with 8253. These AT timer(s)
- occupy addresses 40h thru 5Fh on AT I/O bus.
- Can anybody post some information about 8253-5 additional features
- and explain the meaning of the additional ports assigned to AT timers?
- Thanx
