- This is probably a dumb question, but since Blue Dolphin is now
- belly-up, I thought I'd ask the net before acting... The Real
- Time Clock on my 486/33 is not keeping up (it advances while
- the computer is on, and then stays at last "on" time while
- computer is powered down). Assuming that the problem is a dead
- battery, the question is: will I lose the contents of my BIOS
- CMOS when I remove the battery? Or, a related issue: if the
- CMOS is dependent on the battery for memory retention, why
- hasn't it already died? On most of these motherboards, are
- CMOS settings copied into an EEPROM section of the ETEQ chipset
- when changes are made so that battery integrity does not affect
- bootability? Any advice/similar situations would be helpful
- before I go tearing into my computer. Thanks!
