- I think we need to see a multi-player version of Civilization. I don't know
- if this idea has come up here yet, I just started reading the Civ thread
- again... I know there's Global Conquest modem-able games, but the ones
- I've seen just aren't as fun as Civ. The computer does a good job of
- making challenging competitors, but I think more than one human civ. on
- one planet would make things very interesting...
-
- This idea crops up here every now and then. I'm quite sceptical that Civ'd
- work as a multi-player game. Why, simply because the turns taken get longer
- and longer once you get more cities and it'd be a terrible bore to the othy{r
- players always to leave the room while you're pontificating about trying
- to take Rome now or ten years later.
-
- But as a LAN game or (even better) a semi e-mail version of the game would be
- better (I mean, every player does a move and sends a savegame (the size of
- which should be toned down, perhaps only the modifications should be sent) to
- the other players whose program would then decode the moves. Slow perhaps,
- but very challenging, and a new trend in gaming. I, however, have deep
- suspicions that this shan't be done soon, even tho' the big networks are
- gaining more and more readers.
