- In comp.sys.hp48, jlysagh@hubcap.clemson.edu (james joseph lysaght) writes,
- regarding the practice of extending battery life by swapping their positions
- in the battery compartment (and didn't we all go through this just a few
- months ago?):
-
- Whew! I came back from a business trip, saw the basenote and an indicator
- of "12 responses," and was worried that someone was taking this thing
- seriously! :-)
-
- Might I suggest, in seriousness, that perhaps it wasn't reordering the
- batteries, but removing and replacing them, that enabled jlysagh to
- extend his HP48's battery life? The act of removing and replacing them
- is enough to scrub any oxide, etc. off the battery contacts, which lowers
- the contact resistance and therefore -- well, any EE can figure it out.
- The poor CS grunts, on the other hand, ... B-)
-
- This would be easy to test, but we might not hear from jlysagh about it for
- another 14 months.
-
- I think we should take a vote for Our Favorite Explanation. I vote for
- Joe Horn's Ether Wind.
