- I use rechargeables for my HP48SX because
- 1) I use recargable AAA batteries for not just my HP, but also for
- other gadgets (like fx. a programmable remote controller). So I have
- them at home anyway. Same for the charger.
-
- 2) The dutch consumer magazine advises to use NiCad rechargeable
- batteries because they are less polluting CONSIDERING THEIR LIFETIME,
- compared with alkaline batteries. It is better to use NiCad batteries
- for 10 years, than alkaline batteries for 10 years.
-
- 3) It is plain cheaper. Saying you'll spend more on dougnuts (more
- probably ``drop'', ``kroketten'', ``frikandellen'' or ``patat'' for
- Jan Modaal (Joe Average) in the Netherlands) does not help. With the
- same reasoning, I could quit turning off lights in the home when I leave
- a room, choose a 'normal' dish-washer compared with a reduced water
- dish-washer etc. etc.
-
- Summarizing: I've been using NiCads for my HP48SX for 2 years now, it
- works great for me, I save some money and I pollute just a bit less than
- I would using alkaline batteries.

-
- ps: I do have a back-up set of batteries when the NiCad's are drained.
