- Dear Peter,
-
- the printer driver included in the SmartConverter makes exactly that.
- Moreover, it combines the same functionalities of HP drivers (PCLPRINT.lib
- and EPSPRINT.lib) in one library, adding an IBM-Proprinter driver.
-
- In the case of the CANON BJ10e/ex we supplied also a full font redefinition
- string of 2K, in order to reproduce the HP48 character set above ASCII 128.
- The example given in SmartConverter's manual is tailored on the CANON BJ10
- and lets you create an additional driver that can be included in the driver
- list.
-
- The driver list is handled by a browser which lets you choose interactively
- the printer type and is automatically called under some circumstancies.
- For instance, if you want to print something on the parallel printer you
- need to issue a command for initializing the driver.
- Such command can be PRON is you want to enable the parallel printer or
- MAG if you want to set also the magnitude of pixels.
- Commands are designed to work interactively with the user when a default
- choice is not clearly selected.
- This means that when you call MAG before any other inizialization command,
- an automatic call to PRON is issued.
- If no parallel printer has been yet selected, PRON calls PRCONF for making
- such selection.
-
- For explicitly changing the printer driver you need to call PRCONF.
-
- Please note that respect to HP drivers, we use always PRON or PROFF to
- deal with a selected printer, instead of multiple keywords like
- EPON, HPON, EPOFF and HPOFF.
- You can effectively switch from an EPSON printer to an HP one by simply
- calling PRCONF and browsing through a list of available drivers.
- All the changes required in PRTPAR are accomplished internally.
- User's choices are mantained in PRTPAR and they remain active as long as
- PRTPAR is not cancelled.
- An additional command (DRIVINST) lets you install and use additional drivers
- provided they comply with the internal structure of our library.
- Who is truly interested in developing a special driver may apply to us.
-
- Furthermore we supplied a program for converting text into graphics object
- that lets you by-pass the problem of the HP48 character set.
-
- In conclusion the SmartConverter differs from other converters for two
- aspects:
-
- most of converters are not battery powered. SmartConverter is.
- all other converters do not come with drivers. SmartConverter does.
-
- The converter is priced at 99$ plus shipping.
-
- Who is interested may call us directly.
