  28. the printer driver included in the SmartConverter makes exactly that.
  29. Moreover, it combines the same functionalities of HP drivers (PCLPRINT.lib
  30. and EPSPRINT.lib) in one library, adding an IBM-Proprinter driver.

  32. In the case of the CANON BJ10e/ex we supplied also a full font redefinition
  33. string of 2K, in order to reproduce the HP48 character set above ASCII 128.
  34. The example given in SmartConverter's manual is tailored on the CANON BJ10
  35. and lets you create an additional driver that can be included in the driver
  36. list.

  38. The driver list is handled by a browser which lets you choose interactively
  39. the printer type and is automatically called under some circumstancies.
  40. For instance, if you want to print something on the parallel printer you
  41. need to issue a command for initializing the driver.
  42. Such command can be PRON is you want to enable the parallel printer or
  43. MAG if you want to set also the magnitude of pixels.
  44. Commands are designed to work interactively with the user when a default
  45. choice is not clearly selected.
  46. This means that when you call MAG before any other inizialization command,
  47. an automatic call to PRON is issued.
  48. If no parallel printer has been yet selected, PRON calls PRCONF for making
  49. such selection.

  51. For explicitly changing the printer driver you need to call PRCONF.

  53. Please note that respect to HP drivers, we use always PRON or PROFF to 
  54. deal with a selected printer, instead of multiple keywords like 
  55. EPON, HPON, EPOFF and HPOFF.
  56. You can effectively switch from an EPSON printer to an HP one by simply
  57. calling PRCONF and browsing through a list of available drivers.
  58. All the changes required in PRTPAR are accomplished internally.
  59. User's choices are mantained in PRTPAR and they remain active as long as
  60. PRTPAR is not cancelled.
  61. An additional command (DRIVINST) lets you install and use additional drivers
  62. provided they comply with the internal structure of our library.

  65. Furthermore we supplied a program for converting text into graphics object
  66. that lets you by-pass the problem of the HP48 character set.
