  13. There is an opening for a permanent full-time UNIX & VMS Systems
  14. Administrator in University of Maryland University College's Academic
  15. Computing department in College Park, MD.

  17. The primary responsibility of this position is working with one other
  18. person to manage a VAX 6510 running VMS and an HP 9000/835SE running
  19. HP-UX with over 3000 student, faculty and staff users.  Duties include
  20. minor planning, configuration, installation, troubleshooting and
  21. documentation of hardware and software, as well as providing technical
  22. user support.

  24. To qualify for this position you should possess a Bachelor's degree in
  25. a computer related field, preferrably Computer Science.  You also need
  26. to have 2 years experience with managing both HP-UX and VMS.
  27. Knowledge of advanced C programming, Informix, free VMS and UNIX
  28. utilities (MX, Perl, tcsh, GNU, LaTeX, etc.) and the academic Internet
  29. are all highly desirable.  The ability to interact with users at a
  30. variety of competency levels is essential.  Some evening and/or
  31. weekend work will be required.

  33. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, most likely in the low
  34. 30's.  University College provides a pleasant work environment,
  35. excellent benefits, and plentiful vacation time.
