  12. The HP COBOL compilers for 9000/8xx HP-UX machines *are* non-HP compilers!
  13. As I understand it, they are MicroFocus COBOL compilers.  HP has chosen
  14. to disregard requests from its users and *not* to release its internally
  15. developed COBOL compilers (the ones that run under MPE XL (MPE/iX)).  Instead,
  16. in a bizarre action, they have implied that MF COBOL may become available
  17. on MPE!  While this is one way to address the problem of not having the
  18. same COBOL on both machines, it certainly isn't the best way.
