- The problem occurs after the read. You can read the data once, which
- fits in with the problem description. However, mail from John indicates
- he was using an HP drive on the HP system, so this doesn't appear to be
- the problem.

- Never underestimate the amount of braindamage present in modern drives.
- Both WangDAT and Exabyte drives have been known to do this.
