- I just did this for a customer here, with a minor difference: their laser
- is connected via LAN. A detail that should not effect printing. The printer
- I used is also a IIIsi, not a laser3d.
-
- Some hints that may help you:
- - There is a new model script called "laserjetIIIsi" that supports
- PCL and postscript in the same script. It's shipped with HPUX 8.02,
- not sure how you would get a copy unless you have access to a recent
- HPUX release. It's a regular script, so should work on HPUX 7.05,
- I think. Not sure if a laser3d runs from the same script.
-
- - The IIIsi can be configured to power up in either PCL or PS mode.
- The model script expects the printer to start in PCL mode, but
- doesn't actually check what mode the printer is in. You must adjust
- the printer config to ensure it powers up in PCL mode, and you must
- also enable language switching. If this is not done, the host and
- the printer get "out-of-sync" and can't ever seem to get their act
- going together.
-
- I think the laser3d is capable of language switching (I throw myself
- at the mercy of the net if I am wrong). I know the IIIsi can language
- switch.
-
- - If the laser3d doesn't switch, you need to get a script called
- "postscript" that adds the necessary hooks to print ascii data to
- a ps printer. This includes things like the "^D" at the end of
- the job, and the required headers, etc etc.

- Hope this helps; if you can't get the script by regular means, let me know,
- and I'll see if I can find a copy I can mail to you direct.
