- Howie> Actually, I'm not yet even a user, but here goes ;-)
-
- Howie> I would _LOVE_ to have a little computer to carry around with me wherever I go!
- Howie> From the sound of previous posts, it looks like HP offers a few models to choose

- Howie> My question is: Is it worth my while to consider a palmtop/handlheld computer, or

- Howie> Just what can these little computers handle? Will I be super-annoyed at their slow-

- Howie> the ability to use a modem to connect to a remote host! What kind of price
- Howie> should I look at for a setup that will be good for dial-in operations (2400bps data,
- Howie> no FAX)?

- I have an HP95LX. It has a built in term emulator supporting VT100
- and ANSI terminals, or custom mappings. It also has kermit and xmodem
- built it (all in ROM). Async speeds are supported up to 56Kbps. And,
- a host of other time management features make it might nice. AND, it
- runs MSDOS and MSDOS apps! I love mine!
-
- Pocket modems are also fairly inexpensive. If you only want 2400 and
- no fax, you can easily get one for under $100.00.
-
- The HP is not cheap though. I got mine (the 1 MB model) for
- $587.00+tax at Service Merchandise.
