- I installed C-news on our Encore Multimax with 14 ns32K processors running
- System V R2.4.1. It seems to run pretty fast. The nntpd also runs quite
- nicely, giving us much better access times to articles than the previous
- news server machine (a Sun 3/80).
-
- However, I have found one serious flaw. I can't seem to make a filesystem
- with more than 65536 inodes. We have a 400 Mb disk which gets half full and
- then runs out of inodes. This is true for System V and BSD type filesystems.
- Even for virtual partitions (made of more than one partition) this limit
- seems to hold!
-
- I think there must be some way of circumventing this ridiculous limitation.
- Otherwise I will be forced to split the newsgroups into several partitions in
- a totally artificial, inefficient and unsatisfactory way.
-
- Does anyone know how to create a filesystem on this machine running System V
- with more than 2^16 inodes.
