- I have experience with Pinnacle Micro optical drives (Sony based)
- on a DECstation and a SPARCstation. Our favourite 3rd party
- vendor now sells a new drive from Maxoptics and recommends it
- very strongly.
-
- 1. Does anyone have experience with the Maxoptics vs Sony?
- Apparently the former is faster and holds 1GB per platter vs 650MB for Sony.
-
- 2. I've heard that DEC sells an optical drive product, but know
- nothing about it. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
-
- 3. What other options for optical drives are there?
-
- 4. Are the media interchangable between these technologies?
-
- 5. What drive does HP resell?
-
- 6. Is there a drive that will work on both DECstations and
- VAXstations? Can VMS read/write ISO 9660 standard disks?
-
- Thanks for any help
