- If you are using a mainframe (sounds like you are), you'll probably have to
- use Kermit. Xmodem has problems because the protocol uses bytes which most
- mainframes like to filter out of the data stream (like ctrl-S and ctrl-Q,
- and sometimes carriage returns and linefeeds). Kermit avoids this problem
- by converting such characters to another form for transfer. It's slower, but
- it gets the job done. Unless you can turn off those filters on your
- mainframe, you'll have to use Kermit. This is a problem regardless of the
- terminal program you use.
