  30. To tell the truth, I don't know if my configuration uses Berkeley
  31. sockets.  My system does have these sockets available but I don't know
  32. if my configuration of screen uses them.  I did write the config file,
  33. and I told it that I have named pipes, so screen may use them instead
  34. of BSD sockets.  Then again it may not, but you should get them when
  35. you get TCP/IP.

  37. I cannot imagine using a character-based display without using
  38. screen.  This is doubly essential when you don't have BSD job control.
  39. I often start something and subsequently decide that I want it in the
  40. background.  With screen, I can leave a process intact just by invoking
  41. a new window.
