  12. I wanted to thank all those who have responded to my question
  13. about being able to use a regular (not-specifically-fax) modem
  14. as a modem via some special software.  100% of the responses
  15. have said "NO" in some form or another.
  16. The only reason I asked the question in the first place was
  17. that a friend of mine (who is not necessarilly all that
  18. computer-literate) believes he read an article about some new
  19. software in the msdos world that in fact does let one use a
  20. regular modem to send faxes.  Oh well, either he's wrong, or
  21. it just isn't available for other platforms yet....OR, there's
  22. something slightly more going on.
