- One netter asked why a MegaSTE should be considered over a 1040STE.
-
- First: Cost. If you price out a 1040STE plus a monitor and external 50meg
- hard disk, it is more expensive than buying a MegaSTE with monitor and
- internal 50meg HD. I sell Atari equipment and advise the purchase of a
- 1040STE only if it is to replace a 1040STf or 520 and the owner already
- has a monitor and HD. Examples prices are
-
- 1040STE $CDN459
- SM147 $CDN199
- 52meg HD$CDN625 (Stealth 42)
- Total $1283
-
- Mega2STE/SM147/50meg HD $1154
-
- Why buy a 1040STE???
-
- Second: SLM605 compatibility. I tried five 1040STEs with two SLM605s and
- every combination produced ragged output (pixel displacements). I contacted
- Atari Canada and asked to have an advisory posted but I have seen nothing
- yet (that was 3 - 4 months ago).
-
- Up above where I wrote 42 meg STealth, that should have been a 52 meg HD.
-
- I hope this info helps.
