- OK, guys. I've got a problem for you and the answer is not intuitively
- obvious to me.
-
- I have an 800XL to which I have added a TransKey and the UltraSpeed+ OS from
- CSS. I also have built an SIO2PC interface, which I've just upgraded to
- version 3.03. Here's the problem:
-
- Under the previous version of the SIO2PC software I was running, 2.12, I had
- no problems with my hardware configuration. With version 3.03, I cannot boot
- from the SIO2PC while the XL is running in US+ mode. My monitor speaker
- spits out that horrible raspberry sound you get during a device timeout and I
- end up in the US+ self-test mode, indicating that the computer doesn't believe
- there's a drive attached. However, if I flip the switch on the OS chip so that
- I'm running either the standard XL/XE operating system or else the XL-Fix OS
- (basically a 400/800 OS) then the SIO2PC will boot just fine. It times out
- only in US+ mode which is unfortunate since I want to use the built-in
- ramdisk handlers in the US+.
-
- I haven't yet pursued this with either Bob Puff or Nick Kennedy, but I was
- wondering if anyone would have any insights into this dilemma. My guess is
- that some change in the SIO2PC software from v2.12 to v3.03 is now adversely
- interacting with some nuance of the US+ OS. But what?
-
- Feel free to post if you like, but I've directed followups to me directly; I'll
- summarize the results in two weeks when I return from vacation.
