- If anyone approaches Atari with this argument, please DO NOT ASK FOR
- ANYTHING TO BE PUT IN PUBLIC DOMAIN! Atari would be foolish to do so
- since it could make implementations on other platforms public domain
- as well. (Or at least make it legal for some other company to make the
- game without paying royalties to Atari.) We don't want public domain, we
- want access to the software. The solution is to have them declare that
- they retain all rights, but will allow the software to be distributed
- in a shareware-type fashion. They could even ask that a read.me file
- accompany all Atari software with an address that $2-$5 in royalties should
- be sent to if you use the software. Who knows, they may even collect enough
- money to take some interest in the 8-bit community again. (Yes, I know it's
- doubtful.)

- We need to make a serious effort to get the software available in one format
- or another first. But if Atari doesn't agree to some sort of reasonable
- solution, then it's time to start a serious letter writing campaign and
- try to get ST users to help us out.
