- 1. Out To Launch is not, to my knowledge, freely distributable. It is from
- Seven Hills Software, and comes with GraphicWriter III. However,
- considering that QuickLaunch is freely distributable, Out To Launch may be
- too....I would like to find out...
- 2. It's S16. That's part of what makes it so quick (initially, at least)...
- No Finder. No scrolling menus in the corner that have 2000 entries and
- take 2 minutes to scroll to the end (there's a nice little scroll bar in
- Out to Launch: It's much much faster to access that way). While it takes
- longer to quit to Out to Launch and then launch your next program, a
- fast hard drive really saves a lot of time...and for the # of programs I
- have in my launch menu, the scroll bar, as well as the ability to group
- certain programs together (I have a section for the Finder (1st item),
- for applications, for games, for programming...and each group is (a)
- automatically alphebetized, and (b) in the same list (so no window
- changes, either!).
- 3. If I were to write a launcher, (and that's one of the projects I have
- for myself should I ever learn assembly...) it would be Out to Launch
- with about 3 more features: 1. The ability to scroll through the list
- with arrow keys, 2. The ability to launch programs with the return key,
- and 3. The ability to set certain keypresses (like apple-F) to launch
- certain programs. But basically, that's just about it...it's a great
- program....
