- While you may have ProTERM telling the computer's port to talk to your
- V.32bis 14.4Kbps modem at 38,400bps, when your modem connects with another
- one just like it, the connection speed is still 14.4Kbps. The only way you
- can break that bottleneck is by getting good data compression. It's
- probably highly unlikely that you'd get anywhere close to the 3840cps
- point. That would be about 200% efficiency, though 150% is the best I've
- seen on a plain V.32/V.42bis modem.
