- Heh. On target, there. I used to be an idealist but then I spent some
- time in real life outside of college/university life. Tempers one, let me
- tell ya.
-

-
- I did. As written in makes/made no sense. I knew what you meant. I just
- wanted to point out that Amiga "fanatics" would do well to rethink and edit
- what they write/say before they write/say it.
-
- "If the Amiga is in such a weak state that an Amiga fanatic like
- myself..."
-
- If what? Complete the thought with which you began.

- >significant and all...-);
-
- -MB- and his like are self-appointed "loud frogs in little ponds".
- They get ego boosts from having people respond to their postings. It's a
- cry for recognition. If everyone would quit responding to them, they
- would go away in search of more fertile fields.
-
- >I that clearer? Besides I'm not in a position to change management

-
- That's what so many folks on the net don't seem to realize - you are
- preaching to the converted. WE know how great the Amiga is and WE agree
- that more (any?) advertising would be nice. We are with you in spirit,
- I assure you.
-
- >> There is a point at which Amiga "fanatics" (as you describe yourself) hurt
- >> the Amiga more than help it. Yelling across the net about how things
- >> -ought- to be ("If I were king") accomplishes little to nothing.
-
- >How can a few college students' opinions be more detrimental than a
- >company policy of apathy towards a whole continental market?l
-
- I didn't say or mean that. I was simply pointing out that such discussions
- preach to the converted and if it's voiced to "folks in general" they
- quickly turn you off. It's like having Jehovah's Witnesses show up at the
- door day after day. That does not do the Amiga any good. Altogether too
- many folks have altogether too much of their egos tied up in this thing.
- They have become "religious" fanatics. These are the folks who flame
- Pournelle when he doesn't write about the Amiga and then flame him again
- when he does and (gasp) finds things that he doesn't like. People respond
- positively to -positive- reinforcement. You need to say a few -good- things
- now and then or you are quickly tuned out. And that does -not- help spread
- the word. It's a BOX, folks. Sheesh.
-
- >I never characterized myself as a fanatic.
-
- "If the Amiga is in such a weak state that an Amiga fanatic like
- myself..." ^^^^^^^
-
- Your words. not mine. :)
-
- >The Amiga is valuabe tool for me as well as many I know.
-
- And not for me????
-
- >If recognition of the fact makes you a fanatic then every Amiga owner is
- >one.
-
- Every? Idealism raises it's head again :)
-
- Hey, I moved from wonderful, sunny Southern California to live here and
- work on the Amiga. Everyone in software engineering (and most of hardware
- eng, too) is here because they love the machine. Period.
-
- >If speaking your mind to an

-
- "Objectively" ??? On the NET ??!! Hahahaha. Damn, you ARE idealistic :)

-
- The final SANA-II spec was released about 2 months ago now. There will be
- slip/cslip and possibly parallel drivers.
