- first off, I'd like to thank everyone who responded about the CD ROM
- question I posted earlier.
-
- More questions though...
-
- 1)quite a few people seem to be happy with the CD ROM unit offered by DAK
- for supposedly $199. The Dak catalog I have lists the caddy unit at $399
- and says you need an IBM clone to use it - I assume this means its an IDE
- or ESDI interface, or is it actually SCSI??
-
- 2)Some people have said that the caddy on the DAK drive is non-standard
- and that that makes things a real pain. Why does it matter what
- shape/size the caddy is? don't you just pop in a standard CD into the
- caddy? Do you need more than one caddy?
-
- 3)Why is a caddy based drive so superior? from what I can tell they are a
- little faster, but speed is really not an issue for me, just storage.
- What things other than speed would I notice if I got a non-caddy based
- drive? Would I regret it?
-
- 4)Supposedly the DAK drives came in internal models, but not in my catalog
- - if I can get one that will fit internally and save a few bucks, I'd
- certainly like to do it that way.
-
- 5)I'm just trying to find the cheapest way to go, speed really isn't a big
- issue - if anyone can tell me why I SHOULDN'T go with the drives sold by
- DAK, please let me know.
-
- Thanks in advance.
