- I just bought a second hand Hewlett Packard ThinkJet (ink based printer)
- from someone for a steal. However, he did not have the HP manuals, and
- though my Amiga manuals did have some documentation on how to hook up
- an Amiga with a ThinkJet, it was very sparse. Some of it even seemed to
- be wrong (such as setting the DIP switches), or to indicate whether it is
- a serial or parallel printer (probably is parallel, and I went ahead as
- if it were parallel, but I cannot be sure).
-
- The Amiga manuals (OS 1.3 manual) put a diagram showing 8 DIP switches,
- with 2 and 6 set. However, the printer has three or four extra dip switches
- by the side of the main row of 8 dip switches, and the Amiga manual says
- absolutely nothing about them. Anyway, I went ahead and set the switches
- on the main row, and tried to print out, after installing the HP ThinkJet
- driver from the 1.3 extras disk. I had absolutely no success in getting
- anything printed out. I tried flipping dip switches at random and then
- trying again. No such luck. I ofcourse do not have the time to try the
- 2^12 possible combinations.
-
- Also, is the ThinkJet obsolete by now? That is, would it be impossible to
- get replacements for say, the catridges or printer head, etc?
-
- If _anybody_ has a HP ThinkJet hooked up to their Amiga, I'd love to hear
- from them on how to make my configuration work!
