- The MMR in my 2000 worked fine with a GVP HC+8 with 4 megs. I have not tried
- a ZorroII card in my 2000 that the MMR would not work with. Hardware
- compatibility is excellent.

- The 32 bit dram will help more than the static ram. On my 25 MHz MMR, I was
- seeing speeds around 1.5x - 3.5x with no dram or static ram. Adding 2 megs
- of 32 bit dram and turning on the instruction and data caches boosted the
- speed to 9.5x. The static ram is primarily intended for copying kickstart to.
- It can be used as fast memory but it would be used up *real* quick.

-
- With my MMR, I copy kickstart into dram (I have the MMU version). The tests
- provided with the MMR indicate a 3.5x increase for things like setpen() and
- writepixel(). Screen changes are noticably faster. Don't know how the system
- would respond with only static ram.
-
- Be aware that due to the MMR not being able to do DMA, that your hard drive
- speeds may drop significantly. Careful tuning can bring the speeds back up
- a little though. Actually, with the faster processing speeds, I really don't
- notice the slightly slower disk access.

- You're welcome. I've been quite pleased with my MMR for the 18 months that
- I've had it. If you want any more information about my experiences with
- a MMR, please email.
