  26. I've had the exact symptoms.  It is caused by a virus.  The virus doesn't 
  27. like write protected disks, as they interfere with it's mating ritual.

  29. Get a new version of virusx or some other virus check utility.  If your 
  30. dealer is a 'walk in', he can prolly give you one or check your disks.

  32. If I recall correctly, the virus is called 'Lamar II' (the sequel to 
  33. the Lamar Exterminator).  However, the slimy penis-wrinkles that distribute
  34. viruses often steal them from each other and rename them, so what you 
  35. have may be called something else entirely.
