- The 600 copies ide.device into ram at startup and renames scsi.device,
- redirects flow to the new "scsi.device" I imagine this bit of jiggery
- pokery was done for compatibility reasons. the renamed ide.device works
- just like scsi.device as far as calls to it are concerned.
