  40. Well, this is because the IDE control software is a device called
  41. "scsi.device" and takes the same software commands such that tools that
  42. work with SCSI drives (such as our HDToolBox) will continue to work.
  43. (That way we did not have to make an IDE-HDToolBox...)

  45. You can thank Randell Jesup for some rather nice code that translates the
  46. SCSI command into what it needs to do and then does it on the IDE.
