- Wow. I have a totally different setup but I have had a similar experience.
- I am using an old A2090-based hard disk controller board with an ST-506 type
- 40 M hard disk, which worked fine for years, *until* I upgraded to 2.04!
- Now I also have problems. Instead of read errors, however, I am getting
- totally random corruption of files all over the disk, and it takes 1 or 2
- months for the problem to start appearing. If I never save anything to disk
- nothing else gets messed up but it is too dangerous of a condition to leave
- lying around. I guess that there is not all that much similarity between
- our problems except that they both started after reformatting under 2.04's
- FFS.
-
- I will be watching to see what kind of replies you get, since I was about to
- *buy* a trumpcard to replace my old HD controller board! Good luck on
- finding out what is wrong with your system. I wonder if there is a bug in
- the new FFS? I have seen a rumor on the net (though some have denied it it
- has persisted for some reason) that the A2090 is "incompatible" with 2.04.
- Since the A2090 is *Commodore's* design that could possibly indicate that
- there was some problem. I was going to get some definitive answers from a
- (helpful and friendly) Commodore representative that I had been
- corresponding with on USENET, but he suddenly stopped answering my letters
- about a month ago and I have not heard from him since.

-
- This is unlikely. There were some problem with older floppy drives when C=
- changed some of the drive parameters in 2.04. The older drives (that were
- shipped *by* Commodore, of course) are now declared "out of spec", so it's
- your fault if they don't work. Those parameters probably have absolutely
- nothing to do with your hard disk.
