- | I have a Trumpcard 500 with TCUtils 2.0F--but with 1.2 ROMs (though I hope
- | to be going to 2.04 within 2-3 weeks). I also have intermittent R/W error
- | on my hard disk that usually go away by hitting retry. I don't know why but
- | it seems that the 2.04 ROMs are NOT the problem since I don't have them.
- | TCUtils 2 *may* be the problem, but I doubt that too. I used to have an
- | ST157N, but now have an ST157N-1. The first drive with TCUtils 2.0F NEVER
- | had R/W errors--but it died of sticktion and was replaced by the ST157N-1.
- | That is when I started having the R/W errors. You seem not to have had them
- | until you reformatted. Don't ask me what all of this means...I just thought
-
- I've been using a TCPro v4.0 ROM and TCUtils v2.0 for almost 2 years and
- also experienced these "soft" R/W errors. I found that if I turned off
- all caching options ( no read or write cache) in TCUtils these errors
- stopped. This lead me to believe the error was with the TrumpCard software.
-
- I asked IVS for an upgrade last November and they promised to send it
- to me. I have never received the upgrade (grumble) , but have not had
- any problems with the TCPro since turning off the R/W caches. When I
- upgrade to KickStart v2.04 I believe I will *have* to get a TC ROM
- upgrade, from what I've read on the net.
