- I use my AdSpeed with Digi-View, Digi-Paint, PageStream, Deluxe Paint,
- games, telecom programs, etc., and never had any trouble. There were one or
- two programs that ran a little oddly (one Badge killer demo did not
- syncronize its musical score correctly, for instance) but generally it
- produced a nearly 2x speedup in most productive programs. I had some
- problems with it when I added a Rejuvinator to my A1000 and I am currently
- getting a new unit from ICD (who are very friendly and helpful - even
- exchanging my unit when I bought it used from someone off the net). I heard
- one other person complaining in c.s.a.marketplace about a similar
- compatability issue, but my followup post did not produce any details from
- him so I don't know if his were like mine. Even my problems were not too
- serious. When the system gets warm the Rejuvinator's kickstart disk mode
- doesn't always work, even if the AdSpeed was set to 7 MHz mode with no
- cache. Also, I just noticed that running DNET would cause the Adspeed to
- switch between fast and slow mode constantly (I only noticed that by leaving
- the Adspeed window up and watching it go 7 MHz, 14 MHz, 7 MHz, 14 MHz . . .
- . . a very odd problem. I am hoping that the problems will go away when I
- get the new unit with the newer PAL in it. Anybody else have problems like
- this?
-
- Anyway, I am basically very happy with the unit. It is nice to have an
- accelerator that will run any software (since it has a fall back mode). At
- around $150 for a 2x speedup, it's not a bad deal at all. If you need a
- faster accelerator or a FPU, though, get a MMR.
